About Us Attestation of Power of Attorney or Documents from Individuals, Companies and Organizations

Please note that if the following conditions are not met, the document called Power of Attorney cannot and will not be accepted by the Embassy for attestation:

§  The individual (or individuals) is/are present themselves

§  Proof of identity is provided

§  Power of Attorney is found to be complete (no blank spaces)

§  The document is signed in the presence of the official at the counter

The following documents are required to be submitted for the attestation of a POA:

§  Power of Attorney executed by the individual along with a recent colour photograph, pasted near the place of executant's signature

§  Duly filled in Miscellaneous Services Form (available in the link 'Application Forms' under subhead ‘Other Forms and Affidavits’ - item number 1)

§  For Indian passport holders: original passport (if personally coming to Embassy), a photocopy of the first and last pages of the passport and visa copy/ For Swedish passport holders: original passport (if personally coming to Embassy), a photocopy of the passport and a copy of first and last pages of OCI card (if applicable)

§  Submit a proof of bank-giro payment of SEK 224 in BG No. 5816-4930

§  The documents are to be submitted by the applicants between 10.00 hrs - 11.00 hrs. They can be collected between 16.00 hrs - 17.00 hrs hrs on the appointed day, as advised by the official on the counter [Please book an appointment before visiting the Embassy ]

§  In case the applicant wishes the document to be sent back to him/her by post, he/she is liable to deposit a self-addressed adequately-stamped envelope

§  Processing Time: at least three working days

NOTE: If the Power of Attorney is sent to the Embassy by post for attestation, such a Power of Attorney is accepted only when the document has been first notarized by a Notary Public in Sweden/Latvia (as applicable) or certified by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Government of Sweden/Latvia. Notarized POA can then be sent to Embassy along with all the other relevant documents as mentioned below:

§  Duly filled in Miscellaneous Services Form (available in the link 'Application Forms' under subhead ‘Other Forms and Affidavits’ - item number 1)

§  For Indian passport holders: a photocopy of the first and last pages of the passport and visa copy/ For Swedish passport holders: a photocopy of the passport and a copy of first and last pages of OCI card (if applicable)

§  A proof of bank-giro payment of SEK 224 in BG No. 5816-4930

§  A self-addressed adequately-stamped envelope for return of documents by post

§  Processing Time: at least three working days

In case of preparation of a Power of Attorney by a company or organization, either from Sweden or from Latvia, the document first needs to be notarized by the applicable Notary Public and then by officials of the concerned Foreign Ministry, before bringing it to the Embassy for attestation. The following documents need to be submitted:

§  Power of Attorney executed by the company/organisation

§  Duly filled in Miscellaneous Services Form (available in the link 'Application Forms' under subhead ‘Other Forms and Affidavits’ - item number 1)

§  For Indian passport holders: original passport (if personally coming to Embassy), a photocopy of the first and last pages of the passport and visa copy/ For Swedish passport holders: original passport (if personally coming to Embassy), a photocopy of the passport and a copy of first and last pages of OCI card (if applicable)

§  A proof of bank-giro payment of SEK 224 in BG No. 5816-4930

§  The documents are to be submitted by the applicants between 9.00 hrs - 12.00 hrs. They can be collected between 9.00 hrs - 12.00 hrs on the appointed day, as advised by the official on the counter [Please book an appointment before visiting the Embassy ]

§  Applicant can apply for the service by sending all the documents via post

§  In case the applicant wishes the document to be sent back to him/her by post, he/she is liable to deposit a self-addressed adequately-stamped envelope

§  Processing Time: at least three working days
