Global Housing Technology Challenge-India (GHTC-India)

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India is implementing a flagship programme Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) (Urban) Mission for providing houses to all eligible urban beneficiaries by year 2022. Against a validated demand of 10 million housing requirement in the country, so far the Ministry has sanctioned around 7 million houses, out of which 3.7 million have been grounded for construction and around 1.5 million have been completed and allotted to the beneficiaries.

2.    Hon’ble Prime Minister has envisaged a paradigm shift in technology transition using large scale construction under PMAY (U) as an opportunity to get the best available construction technologies across the globe. The shift in technology transition will also address the large scane housing construction in minimum time and cost with optimum use of resources and environment friendly practices.

3.    In this context, MoHUA has conceptualised to conduct "Global Housing Technology Challenge-India (GHTC-India)"to enable the paradigm shift in the construction sector. The challenge shall have three components viz:

        a) Conduct of Grand Expo-cum-Conference,

        b) Identifying Proven Demonstrable Technologies from across the world and 

        c) Promoting Potential Technologies through the establishment of Affordable Sustainable Housing Accelerators – India (ASHA-India) for incubation support.

4.    GHTC-India, has been launched on 14 January 2019 and a Grand Expo-cum- Conference on GHTC-India is being organized at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 4-5 March 2019. All stake holders such as global technology providers, private and public sector agencies, developers,entrepreneurs,researches,technical institutions among others are invited to participate in the Global Expo. The Expo will have panel discussions, inspiring talks/ sessions, exhibitions of prototypes, models, digital and poster displays, exchange of knowledge and business part from providing networking opportunities, and followed by several events to enlist States and Technology Providers in the challenge.
