AYUSH SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2019 - 2020

Government of India, through Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), offers scholarships to foreign nationals to pursue various Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) courses in India. Acceptance of AYUSH at the International level has resulted in growing demand from foreign students to study in Indian Institutions. This year, the ICCR is offering 104 slots to foreign scholars (including Sweden & Latvia) for studying Undergraduate/Post Graduate/Ph.D. courses related to Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy medicine in Indian Universities/Institutions/Colleges. 

Some important guidelines are listed below:-
1. For BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, BHMS, MD (Ayurveda), MD (Unani), MD (Homeopathy), Ph.D. (Ayurveda), and (Unani) courses, candidates must have taken Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) in their school leaving examinations, as this is mandatory for undergraduate courses.
2. BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, BHMS, B.Sc. (Yoga) certificate is mandatory for the post-graduation courses.
3. Applicants should ensure that they are of 18 years ago at the time of admission in Indian Universities/ Institutes. Students who are of less than 18 years of age are not permitted by Indian Law to open their Saving Banks Accounts requires for releasing their monthly scholarship dues.
4. In order to ensure the security of the foreign students, it is compulsory for all ICCR sponsored students to stay inside the hostel wherever available. No student shall be allowed to stay in private accommodation as per the policy of the council.
5. Applicants should be proficient in English.
6. Applicants have to fill three choices of Universities in the application in order of preference.
7. Applicants can apply online at www.a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in and the last date for receiving the application is 10 September 2019.
8. Applicants are required to go through the criteria laid down by various Universities for the subject/course, which they are applying for and submit all the relevant documentation as required by the Universities in addition to the basic certificates mentioned in the application form. For this, they may refer to the Universities Handbook/ University Grants Commission’s website and the concerned institute’s website for eligibility criteria.
9. Detailed information about revised financial terms, Guidelines UG/PG/Ph.D. courses and their eligibility criteria are also mentioned in AYUSH scholarship Scheme.

Scholarships are provided for the following courses:
A. Under Graduate courses
• Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS): 5 ½ year degree course including one-year mandatory clinical training (Internship).
Eligibility: 12 years of schooling with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry & Biology)
• Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS): 5 ½ year degree course including one-year mandatory clinical training (Internship).
Eligibility: 12 years of schooling with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry & Biology)
• Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS): 5 ½ year degree course including one-year mandatory clinical training (Internship).
Eligibility: 12 years of schooling with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry & Biology)
• Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicines and Surgery (BAMS): 5 ½ year degree course including one-year mandatory clinical training (Internship).
Eligibility: 12 years of schooling with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry & Biology)
• B.Sc. in Yoga: 3-year course
Eligibility: 12 years of schooling
• B.A. ( Yoga Shastra): 3 years course
Eligibility: 12 years of schooling

B. Post Graduate Courses
• M.D. Ayurveda: 3-year course
Eligibility: BAMS degree recognized by Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM)
• MD Siddha: 3-year course
Eligibility: BSMS degree recognized by Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM)
• MD Unani: 3-year course
Eligibility: BUMS degree recognized by Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM)
• MD Homoeopathy: 3-year course
Eligibility: BHMS degree recognized by Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH)

C. Ph.D. Courses
Ph.D. in Ayurveda: 3 years course
Eligibility: MD (Ayurveda) degree recognized by Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM)
