The Embassy of India in Stockholm organised the 10th edition of Namaste Stockholm at Kungsträdgården, Stockholm, on 23 August 2026, bringing together an estimated 18,000–20,000 visitors for a vibrant celebration of India’s culture, traditions, cuisine, creativity and growing partnership with Sweden.

The event was inaugurated by H.E. Ms Maria Malmer Stenergard, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, together with H.E. Mr Anurag Bhushan, Ambassador of India to Sweden, through the traditional lighting of the lamp. Ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps, Swedish dignitaries, representatives of businesses and institutions, members of the Indian community and friends of India also joined the celebrations.

Welcoming the gathering, Ambassador Anurag Bhushan highlighted the special significance of the 10th anniversary of Namaste Stockholm, noting that the festival has grown over the past decade into an important platform for strengthening India–Sweden people-to-people ties. He also referred to the growing momentum in bilateral relations and the elevation of bilateral ties to Strategic Partnership, during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Sweden in May this year.

Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard highlighted the strong friendship between India and Sweden and the importance of close people-to-people connections. Referring to the present global environment, she underlined that in turbulent times, it is especially important that friends stay together.

Throughout the day, visitors experienced the richness and diversity of India through performances of classical, folk and contemporary music and dance, yoga, Indian cuisine, handicrafts, textiles and regional products. Special showcases highlighted India’s rich traditions of handloom, handicrafts and One District One Product (ODOP), together with participation from Indian organisations like TRIFED, other State dedicated stalls and community groups.

The programme also featured interactive activities, cultural workshops and the Bharat Ko Janiye Quiz, offering visitors an opportunity to learn more about India while participating in prizes and lucky draws.

The Embassy expressed its appreciation to all partners, sponsors, artists, exhibitors, volunteers, community organisations and visitors whose enthusiastic participation contributed to the success of the event.

The Foreign Minister, accompanied by Ambassador Anurag Bhushan, visited various Indian food, heritage, textile and handicraft stalls, as well as the Embassy of India stall, interacting with exhibitors and experiencing the diversity of Indian traditions, products and cuisine.
