World Trade Centre Mumbai and All India Association of Industries (AIAI) are jointly organizing the 8th edition of the Global Economic Summit on the theme ‘Services: Enabler of Growth for Trade & Industry’ to be held from March 6-8, 2019 at World Trade Centre Mumbai.
Service sector is the largest contributor to the world economy, as it accounts for 70% of global GDP, 60% of world employment and 46% of global exports measured in value-added terms. At present, the growth of the service sector across the globe is highly uneven. While in the developed countries the services sector has witnessed rapid progress, in many developing and least developed countries (LDCs), the service sector’s contribution to the overall economy remains insignificant. The benefits arising from a service-led economy would be widespread and deep, if the developing nations and LDCs reorient their businesses towards a service-driven ecosystem to consolidate the manufacturing and agriculture sectors.
Advancement in information and communication technologies have offered a new frontier of growth for services sector. The Summit will discuss on how governments and businesses can enhance their competitiveness in global services by adopting various technological, social and policy initiatives.
