Under the Right to Information Act 2005, citizens of India may send applications seeking information of public interest relevant to Embassy of India, Stockholm to the following officers:

Information provided under the Act is available to citizens of India only. Applications should be submitted along with documentary proof of Indian Citizenship.

Applications seeking information under the Act may be sent along with the prescribed fee in Swedish Kroner, equivalent to Indian Rs. 10/- in cheque or demand draft favouring Embassy of India, Stockholm. (The official rate of exchange between Indian Rupee - Swedish Kroner may be used.)

Information on e-IPO

Applications seeking information under the RTI Act, 2005 may be sent along with the prescribed fee through e-IPO* (Electronic Indian Postal Order) favouring Embassy of India, Stockholm OR in Swedish Kronor, equivalent to Indian Rs. 10/- through Bank transfer into Embassy’s account (The rate of exchange for a particular month may be ascertained from the Embassy)

* Facility of e-IPO for payment of fee under the RTI Act, 2005.

The Department of Personnel and Training and Department of Posts have launched a service called e-IPO (Electronic Indian Postal Order) to enable Indian citizens residing in India or abroad to purchase an Indian Postal Order electronically by paying fee on-line through e-Post Office Portal i.e. http://www.epostoffice.gov.in, to enable them to seek information under the RTI Act, 2005. It can also be accessed through India Post Website, i.e. www.indiapost.gov.in. An e-IPO so generated must be used only once with an RTI application.

The User needs to get himself/herself registered at the website. User has to select the Ministry/Department from whom he/she desires to seek the information under the RTI Act and the e-IPO so generated can be used to seek information from that Ministry/Department only. A printout of the e-IPO is required to be attached with the RTI application. If the RTI application is being filed electronically, e-IPO is required to be attached as an attachment. The facility is only for purchasing an Indian Postal Order electronically. All the requirements for filling an RTI application as well as other provisions regarding eligibility, time limit, exemptions, etc. will continue to apply.

The particulars of the organization, functions and duties

Embassy of India is headed by Ambassador and has following Wings: (i) Political (ii) Commercial (iii) Press, Culture and Information (iv) Consular Wing and (v) Defence. These are headed by the three officers of the Mission; (i) Counsellor (ii) First Secretary and (iii) Defence Attachã©. The functions of the Embassy inter alia include political and economic cooperation including promotion of trade and investment, cultural interaction including educational linkages, press and media liaison and defence cooperation with the Royal Kingdom of Sweden and Republic of Latvia.
Embassy functions within the purview of business allocated to the Ministry of External Affairs under the Government of India's Allocation of Business Rules and Transaction of Business Rules.


The powers and duties of its officers and employees

General Administrative powers are derived from IFS(PLCA) Rules, as amended from time to time. Financial Powers are detailed in the Financial Powers of the Government of India's Representatives Abroad. Designated officials of the Embassy also have powers under the Passport Act.


The procedure followed in the decision-making process, including channels of supervision and accountability

This Embassy follows procedures as indicated the "Manual of Office Procedure" for decision-making process under the supervision of the Ambassador.


The norms set by it for the discharge of its functions

As prescribed by the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi.

IFS(PLCA) Rules, Financial Powers of Government of India's Representatives Abroad, Passport Act, Consular and Visa Manual.

Documents/files relating to the conduct of diplomatic and consular duties are held by this Embassy


The particulars of any arrangement that exists for consultation with, or representation by, the members of the public in relation to the formulation of its policy or implementation thereof

The Embassy functions within the norms of India's foreign policy formulated by the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi. This policy is implemented by the Embassy under the guidance and supervision of the Ambassador.


A statement of the boards, councils, committees and other bodies consisting of two or more persons constituted as its part or for the purpose of its advice, and as to whether meetings of those boards, councils, committees and other bodies are open to the public, or the minutes of such meetings are accessible for public

This Embassy has not constituted any such bodies. Adhoc Internal committees are constituted as and when required under the rules.

This Embassy does not have any subsidy programmes.

Accounts work since September 2009, and Visa work since 2006.

Information about the Embassy can be obtained from its website https://www.indembassysweden.gov.in/. Further any individual or organization can approach the Embassy anytime during office hours and obtain the required information. Also the library of the Embassy can also be accessed during all working days.
