Information on requirement of registration for OCI in lieu of PIO cards
 
  • It is hereby informed that the last date of submission of online applications for registration as OCI cardholder in lieu of PIO card by the erstwhile PIO cardholders who hold valid PIO cards on Gratis basis has been expired on 31 December 2017. Now, the applicants need to pay a fee of SEK 874. This should be done at https://www.ociservices.gov.in./

  • The applicants should submit the applications for OCI card in lieu of PIO card to the Embassy/Consulates/FFRO concerned within the Consular jurisdiction of his/her current place of residence. This is in modification of the earlier instruction that they should apply only at the location where the PIO card was issued.
  • Applications for registration as OCI Cardholder is to be filled only on the online system. The applicants should select the option “OCI Registration (In lieu of Valid PIO Card)”.

Documents to be submitted with the application

  • Duly filled online application
  • Proof of present citizenship – Copy of present valid passport (applicable in all cases), with validity of minimum 6 months at the time of submission of application.
  • PIO card copy
  • Fee Receipt of 874 SEK (To be deposited in the bank giro number (5816-4930.)
  • One Photo.
PHOTO SPECIFICATIONS FOR OCI

  • The photograph should be in color and of the size of 2 inch x 2 inch (51mmx51mm).
  • The background should be a plain white or off-white. 
  • The photo-print should be clear and with a continuous-tone quality.
  • It should have full face, front-view, eyes open.
  • Photo should present full head from top of hair to bottom of chin. Center head within frame.
  • Photo should be taken within the last 6 months to reflect your current appearance.
  • There should not be any distracting shadows on the face or on the background.
  • Head coverings are not permitted except for religious reasons, but the facial features from bottom of chin to top of forehead and both edges of the face must be clearly shown.
  • The expression on the face should look natural and neutral.
  • Non-tinted prescription glasses are allowed as long as your eyes are clearly visible.
