As per the Government of India instructions no visa will be issued by the Embassy to foreign nationals intending to visit India for commissioning surrogacy with immediate effect (06.11.2015)

For child/children born through surrogacy already commissioned on or before issue of above notice, exit permission will be decided by Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRROs) on a case to case basis.

General information

1. Who needs an Indian visa

All Foreign Nationals need a visa to enter India unless:

(i) They hold a valid OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card

IMPORTANT: OCI card holders do not entitle to carry out research, missionary work, mountaineering, tabligh and journalistic activities without prior permission.

(ii) They are holders of a DIPLOMATIC /OFFICIAL passport of countries with which India has signed WAIVER AGREEMENTS.

2. Where to apply

All visa applicants should apply at Embassy of India to Sweden & Latvia in Stockholm only

3.  Diplomatic/Official/UN passports holders may follow these steps

  1. Fill online visa application form which is available at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/ 
  2. Print out the completed form and sign it and add one more photograph.
  3. Submit the application form along with all requisite enclosures at the Embassy


IMPORTANT NOTICE

All applicants for Tourist Visa may kindly note that:

'A tourist visa is only granted to a foreigner who does not have a residence or occupation in India and whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation, sightseeing, casual visit to meet friends and relatives etc. Applicants may please note that anyone who is found to be doing something else such as attending a training programme or working is likely to be blacklisted and asked to leave India immediately. Therefore, please be accurate in giving the purpose of your visit to India. Your cooperation would be appreciated'

All applicants for Tourist Visas may kindly note that a return ticket (if returning back to Sweden/Latvia) or ticket for onward journey (if going to some other country) would have to be attached along with their visa applications w.e.f.15th October, 2015.


PAKISTAN ORIGIN NATIONALS 

  • Applications of Pakistan origin persons for visa of all categories will be dealt with according to concerned Ministry guidelines issued from time to time.
  • Applicant holding dual nationality (i.e Pakistan & Other Nationality) /Pakistan origin card/Pakistan Overseas card/NIC card can apply Indian visa only through their Pakistan passports. In case if applicant not holding Pakistan citizenship then surrender/renunciation certificate of Pakistan nationality is required. 
  • If the last visit to India is a Tourist visa there should be a gap of two months is required from the date of exit stamp from India while applying for the new visa. If the recent visa is other than tourist visa, then eligible to apply for visa. 
  • Any type of visa is considered as reference case. 
  • Non - residents of Sweden are not eligible to apply for visa 

As per Government of India regulations Satellite Phones are not permitted into India. If any foreigner is found carrying such, their satellite phones will be seized.
